Senior Machine Learning Engineer

Our multi-tenant cloud SaaS is capable of processing large volumes of various data sources in order to deliver high-quality risk evaluation.

Your Mission

As Senior Machine Learning Engineer you will develop new models and create effective feature roadmaps in order to advance the NLP production pipeline, which represents the engine of Merlon. Merlon, being the only AI-powered adverse media screening provider, needs to push the boundaries of the current state of AI NLP.


  • Implement classifiers and tools leveraging modern NLP, machine learning and rules based models in multilingual environments
  • Apply expert software development skills to a wide range of ML-related coding projects
  • Adapt standard machine learning methods to best utilise modern deep learning/ML frameworks
  • Suggest, collect and synthesize requirements and create effective ML roadmap

Daily Tasks

  • Research and develop new models required for existing and newly supported languages by the software
  • Manipulate datasets (build training and evaluation dataset, scrape publicly available datasets, work with domain experts on keyword sets etc.)
  • Apply software development skills into implementation of a production-ready language pipelines for newly supported languages

Your skills and experience

  • MS degree in Computer Science or related quantitative field (Mathematics, Statistics) with relevant experience, or Ph.D degree in Computer Science or related quantitative field
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: machine learning, NLP, recommendation systems, pattern recognition, large-scale data mining or artificial intelligence
  • Experience in using tools like Tensorflow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, NLTK, spaCy
  • Proven ability to translate technical insights into recommendations for the product development

Nice to have

  • Experience with GCP or Mapreduce/Apache Beam/Bigtable
  • Experience with filesystems, server architectures, and distributed systems
  • Experience with Scala
